Global History & Geography 9
Overview:
Social Studies 9 is the first half of a two year course in Global History & Geography. It focuses on four social studies standards: history, geography, economics, and civics. We will examine the first four units, covering all of human history till the Age of Absolutism. Next year, we will look at the last four units, covering the Enlightenment to current world issues. With each historical era, we will examine global connections and linkages, such as cultural diffusion, belief systems, migrations, conflict, and multiregional empires. In addition to these concepts, we will learn about the development of world cultures and make important connections to today. Your understanding of the past and of world cultures will help you to make sense of the world in which we live today.
